Meet the 2011-2012 TASA Officers!

Jordan Bautista, President

Favorite Designer: My favorite designer is Cristobal Balenciaga. He was an innovator and really respected and appreciated the art that comes from fashion. I value his inventiveness and he was one of the first designers who knew how to manipulate the interplay between his clothes and women's bodies. I also love the fact that he was self-taught and made a name for himself, despite the many set-backs he had throughout his life--which myself and many other designers out there can relate to.

Reason for joining TASA: Initially I joined TASA in order to get more involved with my major and to get to know some of the students in the program. I realized later that TASA is more than just an organization, but a company of brilliant artists working together to contribute to the school, the program, and the community all in the name of fashion!

Affiliates: Work in Fragrances at Boston Store, & Fragrance Model for L'OREAL

Favorite Designer: As far as designers go, I LOVE the classy Coco Chanel and the Chanel brand. For the most part, it's realistic, classy, simple, yet incredibly fashionable. But I also love the colors and attitude of Versace!

Reason for joining TASA: I love being involved with TASA because of the relationships that can be built with the other girls in the major as well as just that awesome feeling of being a part of a group. I love finding new and exciting ways to make a difference, and being part of TASA and UW-Madison, we can definitely take advantage of this! What we do in our major is AMAZING, so let's make it known to as many people as possible!

Favorite Designer: My favorite designer would be Diane Von Furstenberg because her designs are simple but chic and elegant but fun. I love the way she plays with different patterns and prints and sticks with classic colors but every once in awhile there will be a pop of a bright color.

Reason for joining TASA: I joined TASA because I am so passionate about this field and I wanted to get more involved to meet other peers who shared the same passion as me, also to get the word around town that University of Wisconsin does have this awesome program!

Favorite Designer: I love Giorgio Armani. His designs are edgy yet sophisticated and he has created a lifestyle brand that spans over all ages, branching beyond just clothing.

Reason for joining TASA: For me, TASA is a way to get more involved with TAD and meet people. A lot of girls have mentioned that they want the students in our major to become more of a 'family' and to spread the word about our program. Using this org as a starting point and tool, I think we can make that happen!

Favorite Designers: Vera Wang and Alexander McQueen. I love Vera because dresses are my favorite and her dresses are beautifully intricate and both high fashion and wedding traditional. I love Alexander McQueen because his shows and collections were always over the top but still sophisticated.

Reason for joining TASA: I want to be involved with TASA because I want to get to know the other girls in the major and get the new class of girls involved and excited about our program. I believe TASA can be a platform for all of us to build relationships, do charity work for our community, get the word out about how great our program really is, and have a lot of fun doing all of this!

Favorite Designer: Oscar de la Renta because his designs are unique and playful and use various interesting silhouettes and color combinations.

Reason for joining TASA: I got involved in TASA to become more involved and to meet other students in this major as to help me gain some valuable insights into fashion and careers and build relationships. Meeting other girls with the same interests in such a small field at Madison is amazing because you have people to get and share advice with, and work towards a larger goal for our passions together!
